Hello.

Advantan is a topical steroid cream, prolonged usage may cause thinning of the skin.

If your condition is facial eczema, it should respond to Antihistaminics taken in the tablet form - like levocetrizine, fexofenadine or chlorpheniramine maleate. These are available over the counter in most countries.

If what you have is not entirely eczema but acne alongwith eczema, it might get flared up with the steroid cream and keep recurring as you mentioned. You can try using benzoyl peroxide cream over the bumps for 2 weeks after stopping the Advantan. Initially it may appear to increase but gradually will get under control.

Alongwith the above, good lifestyle habits like healthy diet, exercise and facewashing practices will definitely help. If you have an oily face, avoid using facewash or soap more than once a day. Wash with plain water.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr Geeta
