Suggest Treatment For Facial Paralysis

My husband has not been feeling good. We just noticed that one side of his face is not moving like the other side when he talks. He had a tumor in ear when 12 years old so the doctor cannot look in that ear. He went to doctor and not able to see any fluid in good ear . He has been on steroid and antibiotic for almost a week. Is this something that can wait till tomorrow for doctor or go to er?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is possible that he may have Bell's palsy which is due to issues with a nerve in the face called the facial nerve. It is treated with the use of steroid medications. It would be best for him to be seen by his doctor for an assessment

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
