Suggest Treatment For Fainting Spells Followed By Seizures

my sister is having fainting spells and says she sees kaleidoscopes after she faints. she has had a seizure after one of these spells. she wants to be in a dark room after this happens. she had blood work done and results were normal. what is happening. she is 57 and smokes less than half a pack of cigarettes daily. I am really worried.

I appreciate your concern towards your sister's problem.
I am of the opinion that the symptoms described in your question are highly suggestive of epilepsy mostly generalized type which is precipitated by flickering or flashing lights including exposure to television screens, computer monitors, certain video games or TV broadcasts, in addition to intense strobe lights. etc. This is referred to as Photosensitive epilepsy.
You are advised to consult a neurologist for confirmation and the possible use of anti-epileptic drugs like Valproic acid or Carbamazepine
