General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
If you are experiencing fatigue and bloating after having a shunt placement, it is recommended that you consult with a doctor for further evaluation and diagnosis. Treatment options could include adjusting the shunt settings or medication to alleviate symptoms, or in some cases, replacement of the shunt may be necessary.
To determine if the shunt is blocked, a doctor may perform various tests, such as a CT scan, MRI, or a shunt series X-ray. It is essential to seek medical attention if you are experiencing symptoms like fatigue, bloating, or difficulty walking, as these may indicate a problem with your shunt. Your doctor can help determine the best course of action and ensure that you receive appropriate treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
