Suggest Treatment For Fatigue And Nasal Infection

I am a 47 yr old male and I have recently been put on an antibiotic for prophylactic prevention of nasal infection, due to serious nosebleed caused by thrombocytopenia. I have been experiencing increased fatigue, no energy, and my feet and ankles are swelling a lot. Could the Keflex be causing these symptoms?

Hello,

Since you have a history of Thrombocytopenia get it treated at the earliest. Keflex is a cephalosporin which should be prescribed with caution in patients who have an allergy to penicillin or have kidney disease.

Keflex also interacts with blood thinners. Increased fatigue, no energy & swelling of feet & ankles can be due to anemia or water retention.

These are the symptoms of Thrombocytopenia. Visit ER, get physically examined & get CBC done to rule out low platelet count & bone marrow test to rule out Aplastic anaemia, leukaemia, lymphoma, etc.

Get evaluated & treated. Your treatment will depend upon the pathology detected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
