Hello,
Fatigue, muscle aches and fatigue in the elderly may be indicative of
polymyalgia rheumatica,
chronic fatigue syndrome, OA, RA or fibromyalgia. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get
Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and
C-reactive protein (CRP) blood tests done to check the levels of inflammation in your body. Your treating doctor may order for a few more tests to detect OA, RA, fibromyalgia, etc.
You are suggested to take quality sleep, stay away from stressful lifestyle, anxiety and depression. Exercise regularly under a physiotherapist, take home made healthy balanced food. Take calcium and vitamin D. Avoid addictions if any. The treatment of choice is
corticosteroids and methotrexate after a complete medical check up. Get treated at the earliest. In the meantime you can take vitamin E (Evion- 400mg) and Combiflam, once a day after food to ease discomfort. Take vitamin B6, B12 rich food or supplements.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
