Suggest Treatment For Fever After Breast Reduction Procedure
I am 1 week 1 day post op from a breast reduction. Everything went well till Saturday when I started running a fever of 100.7. Called the provider on call and he stated to take Tylenol to reduce fever but assured me it was normal. By Monday I knew I had something more than just a normal fever fighting back from the surgery. Contacted the same Doctor on Monday and he called in 500 mg keflex 4 times a day. i was asked to come in the office the next morning which my provider at this point seen me and stated everything was looking good and to contimy keflex. By Wednesday night my fever is back and keep returning. Seen my provider today and he stated to continue to take the keflex however he did say I was extremely red. My question is how long can I go on with this fever and when should I push for a different option with my provider? How high is my fever to get before I should be concerned? When I seen my doctor this morning at 9 I felt better no fever but within a few hours it was back.

Suggest Treatment For Fever After Breast Reduction Procedure
Hi, As first-line management, you can take drugs like paracetamol for symptomatic relief. If fever persists better to start antibiotics. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
