Suggest Treatment For Fever And Cold In A Child

My 10 month old had a fever on the 4-5-6th of this month after the fever broke she got a rash all over for a day & 1/2 followed by a raspy voice. minimal congestion and no runny nose-no cough. she has been better since the 10th or 11th and today the raspyness & fever has come back. What could this be?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Fever, rash, raspy sound and nasal congestion usually suggests a viral respiratory infection, and need not worried. But recurrence of fever is not expected after 3-4 days in an uncomplicated viral illness. Second spike of fever is either unrelated or suggests secondary bacterial infection. If she is otherwise active and playful, and feeding as usual, you can give paracetamol for 2-3 days. If not getting better by then, kindly take her to your pediatrician, as this might need antibiotic treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
