Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter gets fevers followed by joint pain and inflammation with her joint (knee) warm to the touch and very painful. Rheumatologist has no diagnosis and we d like to see another specialist but don t know who to go to - infectious disease? Homeopath?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Fever accompanied by joint pain and swelling of joint goes more in favor of 'chikungunya'. It is a mosquito borne self limiting viral disorder which affects joints as it causes inflammatory reaction in the joint tissues. It needs to be treated symptomatically with analgesic medications like Paracetamol and Ibuprofen. Joint reaction and pain in the joint causing morbidity would last for about 4 to 6 weeks, which would gradually come back to normal. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
