Hi,
Platelet count would increase once the acute stage of dengue passes off. Don't take any antipyretics other than
paracetamol and go for tepid sponging. Have plentiful oral fluids and water and be well hydrated. Preferably, take semisolid diets which are soft to digest. Have fruits like banana, kiwi and papaya.
Get TPC done every alternate day.
I advice my patients to get admitted, once count decreases below 20000, there is a refractory
fever in children with risk of seizures and when oral intake is poor due to intractable vomiting and risk of
dehydration. Bleeding from any site like
epistaxis, gum bleed, blood in sputum or stools etc are an absolute indication of admission and platelet transfusion.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
