Suggest Treatment For Fever And Vomitting

4.5 y/o daughter vomited after eating lunch at daycare on Thursday and had 101.6 fever. Ate saltines in the evening and vomited around 2 a.m. Friday morning. I gave her Zofran and put her back to sleep. She ate poorly (almost nothing) Friday and Saturday but drank some water and gingerale. Vomited around 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning, given Zofran again. She slept until 8:40 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. today, then laid down early for nap at 11:45 after drinking water and declining to eat. Is this a normal pattern of recovery from a bug?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,
You daughter could have food poisoning what lunch she ate that time.

Now,Food poisoning is nothing but acute gastroenteritis due to toxins of contaminated food from infections like bacteria, virus, parasite etc.

Symptoms usually starts after 12 to 24 hours of eating, like nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, loose motions, fever, weakness, fatigue, headache, abdominal cramps due to water and electrolyte imbalance.

As per your daughter's symptoms, she seems to be having this gastroenteritis and will require antibiotics, antispasmodics, antiemetics, probiotics and other supportive treatment as per the symptoms.

So,child physician for proper treatment
