Suggest Treatment For Fever And Wound Infection For An 8-year-old
My 8 year old has a temp of 34.9... He has a wound infection . Yesterday we came from hospital his infection levels In bloods were 22, normal being below 5. He is on strong antibiotics. Ate a dinner & sleeping bug checked temp before going to bed & reading 34.9
Hopefully, the antibiotics will start working in 2-3 days. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be helpful for symptomatic relief however if the problem persists, he may need antibiotics according to cultures and sensitivity reports of wound discharge if any.
Co enzyme 10 orally twice daily can also decrease inflammation and increase healing. If oral antibiotics are not effective broad spectrum injectable antibiotics may be needed.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing him a speedy recovery.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
