Hello. I am a first time mother and our regular doctors office is closedoing today. My 22month old has had a Fever since sometime last night. I didn t notice til 7am when I awoke. I just want to make sure I am doing everything right and wonder whenor if I should take her to the hospital.
Hello, I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns. Fever is a quite common problem in infants and it is viral in origin in most of the cases. As a first line management you can do the following things:
1.Give your kid paracetamol syrup dose of which depends on the weight of the child(As a rough estimate you can give one and half teaspoon of 125/5 paracetamol syrup. 2.Tepid sponging with tap water to reduce temperature. 3.Saline nasal drops for nasal congestion. 4.Monitor the temperature if you have a thermometer.
If the child develop breathing problem(fast breathing) or fever persist for long, please consult a pediatrician,in that case some blood investigations and antibiotic treatment may be needed.
Hope this information helps. Regards.
