Hello dear user!
Welcome to HCM!

High temperature in a child is usually caused by a viral condition. In this case there is no need for antibiotics, just keep the temperature under control with the medication you doctor prescribed you! The temperature may persist up to 5 days (rarely more) in viral conditions.

If the fever lasts more, a bacterial infection should be taken into consideration and you have to take you child to a doctor. Throat infections, upper or lower respiratory tract infections may be nested due to this condition. In such cases a cure with antibiotics should be started to treat the infection and prevent complications.

I hope your child will be fine ASAP.
Take care and all the best!
