General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Most persons with these symptoms have a viral not a bacterial infection and the infection can only run it course.

The main treatment is symptomatic. This means that you can:
(1) use over the counter decongestants , both topical and oral, to help with the nasal symptoms
Topical decongestants would be otrivine or normal saline

(2)cough suppressants

(3)if the cough is wet, she would need a mucolytic to help break up the mucus so that it can be expelled.
Eg bisolvan, mucomyst, guifenesin

(4)fluids and rest

I hope this helps
