Suggest Treatment For Fever

How do I break a fever of a woman located in the Philippines, Leyte Island . She is now on a doctor s antibiotics as I had advised her to do. Also, how often should this 40 year old women s temperature be checked until the fever is gone. https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t34.0-12/0000_0000_0000_n.jpg?oh=941920b78815bff198a99ca48ed4a430&oe=57BD3887

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Fever is a normal reaction to a possible infection. If she is taking antibiotics she will need around 48-72 hours for the fever to be controlled. During this time she should make sure you drink plenty of water, eat a frequent small amount of food and rests as needed.

She does not necessarily need to check her temperature regularly unless she feels unwell. If she is feeling chills she may check her temperature to make sure it is a fever or not.

If she has a temperature of 38C or higher for more than 3 days or she is any worse she will need to see her doctor again.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
