Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi - I came back from France mid February with a cold, had a fever up to 101 for about 5 days. Got over the fever however, I still have a lingering cough and a bit of runniness. The cough is not generated in the lungs however, is related to the nasal / sinus drain. Thoughts? Thank you very much
Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having symptoms of fever, cold and runny nose which is due to severe upper respiratory infection and it could be due to sinus infection leading to sinusitis. Need not to worry. You should avoid use of spicy, sharp oily and fried food substances. Apply mist humidifiers in room. You should take throat soothing agents. I would suggest you to visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get paranasal sinus x-ray done so as to detect level of infection and treatment can be started accordingly. You should take combination of antibiotic Levofloxacin along with antihistamine such as Levocetirizine. You should do warm saline rinses 3-4 times a day. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
