Hi,

Fibromyalgia is a condition that causes widespread pain, fatigue, and other symptoms such as cognitive difficulties and sleep disturbances. There are several medications and non-pharmacological treatments available that may help with fibromyalgia symptoms.

However, it is important to discuss any treatment options with a healthcare professional who is familiar with your medical history and current condition. When it comes to using marijuana to alleviate symptoms of fibromyalgia, some studies have shown that it may be effective in reducing pain and improving sleep quality. However, marijuana can also have side effects and may not be appropriate for everyone.

Additionally, using marijuana may affect your ability to function and operate machinery, so it is important to consider the potential risks and benefits before using it. It is also worth noting that there are other non-pharmacological treatments that may be helpful for fibromyalgia, such as exercise, cognitive behavioral therapy, and relaxation techniques.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get blood tests and imaging tests done to confirm fibromyalgia. Your treating doctor will tell you to do thyroid function tests, rheumatoid factor, ESR, CBC, Celiac serology, vitamin D, anti-nuclear antibody, CCP test, etc.

After the disease is confirmed you will be treated with pain relievers like Naproxen sodium (Aleve), Acetaminophen (Tylenol), etc. If needed your health care provider will prescribe anti-seizure and anti-depression medications, etc. Physical therapy and Counselling are helpful. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
