Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
When I looked at categories for fibremialgia, i have something in each category. I am in pain a lot and dont sleep. My doctor says there is no tests for fibrem . I have had several surgeries in the last 5 years and do not sleep. My doctor will not give me enough sleep meds to keep me asleep for more than 4 hours. i have had 2 sleep clinic tests and yes, they agree I have a sleep disorder. i believe that no sleep in years is creating the fibremialgia. I am going to doctor tomorrow and I need something for the ongoing pain. just wanted your opinion or at least some feedback thank you sandra Norris
fibromyalgia is a tough condition to treat satisfactorily. neither are there any confirmatory investigations which can lead us, its more of a clinical diagnosis based on extensive history and examination to discover tender spots.
sleep too is an issue in the disease process since you understand the disease process well my suggestion will be to look for physical means to reduce your symptoms in addition to medicine support rather than relying primarily on medicines.
massages, hot water bath sauna stretching exercises give a significant amount of relief in most of my patients and a longer gap between medications, stress reduction too helps, too much dependence on pain and sleep meds cause dependence and abuse following which you will add an additional issue to your already longish list and is certainly not a good idea.
