Suggest Treatment For Fissure In My Nostril

Hi, my left nostril at the tip inside has a fissure and the outside is red. It s tender to the touch. It will almost clear up, but then is back again bright red. Should I go see a doctor or is there something I can do at home? I m in good health, 5 3 , 140 lbs and I m 63 years old.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms are more related to a nasal polyp. Nasal polyps grow in inflamed tissue of the nasal mucosa. The mucosa is a very wet layer that helps protect the inside of your nose. The treatment of nasal polyps is through surgery. I suggest to consult an ENT specialist for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
