Suggest Treatment For Flatulence In An 8 Year Old Child
Hello I have a 8 year old daughter and she s been having fart issues for as long as I can remember it s gotten to the point that she can t handle it anymore and farts in front people and she cries cause she doesn t do it on purpose what should I do ?
Noted the history about your 8 year old child. Flatulence in a 8 year old child is not usual. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: Get her stool tested for 3 consecutive days. Watch for the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problem of flatulence. Also watch for any stress or anxiety disorder in her. If there is any evidence of an infection in the intestinal tract a course of an antibiotic active against intestinal infection, Metronidazole and probiotics as per the dosages given in prescription by your Doctor on discussion. Also get ultrasonography and tests of blood. Clinical evaluation by a Pediatrician and correlation with the reports can help a lot to get a proper diagnosis and management of the problem.
Take care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant, General & ENT Surgeon
