Suggest Treatment For Fluid Accumulation Post Major Abdominal Surgery

I recently have had a major abdominal surgery and have been back into the er with infections resulting in 2 additional surgeries and a wound vac. I am just out of surgery 2 days and the wound vac team has detected another site of possible fluid accumulation. I have lost faith that my current surgeon is competent. Do you have any suggestions.

hi
my name is Dr Ehsan ullah and I have gone through your query ...
you have mentioned about major abdominal surgery and after that you have faced fluid accumulation ...

fluid accumulation after surgical Procedure has several causes

including

Seroma

which is collection of clear fluid which leaks from blood vessels after the abdominal and breast surgery etc

haematoma
which is collection of blood

or there may
some infective element which leads to pus collection like abscess

In either case
dealing with such thing takes time
and

in some cases
doctors put patients on just
conservative treatment
which is basically non surgical approach by using Drugs

which other approach is surgical drainage of such such collection followed by serial monitoring via Ultrasound and such drainage may have one or more suasions ...

another key aspect in the management of such collection is
patient's body immune system which should be strong
and
patient's general health and diet...

you need to keep all these aspects in mind and the more important thing is that you should have clear concept in mind that such things take time to settle ...
so don't lose hope and continue the treatment as scheduled ...

VAC (vaccume assisted closure )is good as it leads to quick healing ...

major abdominal procedure itself takes much time in full recovery as compared to routine procedures...

you should continue the treatment regularly ...

hope this detail answer your question ...
in case you something still not clear then just do let me know ...
regards
I find this answer helpful
