Suggest Treatment For Fluid Cysts In The Breast

I am having pain in my breast. I felt a lump in the area that is painful. November 2014 , I took my mammo and sonogram. I was advised that I had fluid filled cysts, to return in six months for follow-up testing. My next tests are scheduled forMay 19. My breast is very painful now. Question 1: does painful breast indicate BC.? Question 2. Should I report this to my oncologist or primary, or my gyn doctor? FYI, 16 yrs ago I had BC and mastectomy. The painful lump area is in my remaining breast.

General Surgeon 's  Response
hi.

to answer your questions:
1. no. not all painful breasts indicate cancer. it may be an inflammatory reaction or it may be fibrocystic changes, which usually cause breast tenderness and/or discomfort especially before and during menstruation period, or when there are hormonal changes in the body. 2. you could report it to your oncologist and/or do a follow-up consult with your general surgeon for physical examination and clinical evaluation. diagnostics and management will be directed accordingly.

hope this helps.

good day!!
