Suggest Treatment For Food Gone Down The Wrong Pipe
Yesterday I choked on a carrot. I could feel some of it go down the wrong way, I couldn't breathe but coughed for a few moments and could bbreathe again. I have a little discomfort and have been coughing on and off all day. Should I be concerned it may be in my lungs?
Hello, Most likely the pieces come out by repeated bouts of coughing but in some cases a small piece can get lodged in some small bronchioles of your lung. In case your coughing doesn't stop and your distress increases then you have to be investigated for any piece inside.Consult a doctor in that case and a possible CT scan or bronchoscopy may be required, however such a posdibility is very less. Thanks
Welcome to HealthcareMagic, You were choked and were coughing due to a small piece of carrot entering you respiratory tract. My advise to you is to drink plenty of water and take some rest as it will be a very small piece of carrot and it will get broken down and removed by the body. So do not worry as it will come around on its own. Have a good day. Regards, Dr.Imaad.
