Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I wanted to know if I have infection. I had a foot injury about two weeks ago and I have swelling. Since yesterday I started having an itch and I wanted to know if this is infection. I have blisters on the top of my foot and I still have a lot of swelling and bruises.
An x-ray is advised for the safer side to understand the pathology of the bone if it may have got any damage. Because if there is not cut or wounds then the chances of infection are maximum less. This must be a bony hurt which may have damaged the soft tissues around it. Also, the mechanism of the injury may have helped us to understand the injury better.
I will advise to hot water fermentation, do feet, toe and finger strengthening exercises which can be performed under the water and lastly to keep the limb elevated so the swelling reduces and the venous return is improved which will help the healing process to occur faster.
But please make a note to take an x-ray of the foot in the AP and lateral views.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Jay Indravadan Patel, Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist
