1. You can use over the counter [OTC] anti inflammatory drugs along with
physiotherapy,stretching exercise.

. Maintain straight back posture while standing or sitting
. Avoid bending forward and lifting heavy weight
. Sleep on hard mattress
. gentle massage with rubefacient ointments.
. Lumbosacral belt to support the spine and prevent bending.
PS. If there is shooting pain it may require pelvic traction, epidural injections,
myelography or surgery.
3. You should fix an appointment with an Orthopedic surgeon if there is no relief with routine treatment,if pain is very severe and there is any
neurological deficiency in the legs [numbness present]
4. Ask for Investigations like: Hb%, X-ray LS-spine [for
osteoarthritis,
disc prolapse,TB spine, osteoporosis], gynecological opinion in females
