Suggest Treatment For Foul Smell Sensation, Not Relieved By Saline Nasal Spray
What would cause suddenly experiencing unpleasant smells (something like dirty socks) at various times during the day and in different locations (when outdoors as well as in). This has happened a handful of times over the past couple of weeks. Have used saline nasal spray a few times but that doesn t seem to have any effect.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of foul smell sensation, not relieved by saline nasal spray which is due to sinusitis infection. Need not to worry. You should take over the counter antihistamine drug like benadryl. Consult ENT specialist for proper examination and treatment . Doctor may order blood test or get paranasal sinus X-ray done. He/ she may prescribe antibiotics course nasal corticosteroids, antihistamines and decongestant. Avoid intake of hot and spicy food. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Take steam 2-3 times a day to relieve congestion, drink plenty of fluid and do warm saline gargles.
