Suggest Treatment For Foul Smelling Urine While Treating UTI
I had a uti and I tried over the counter azo and crandberry pills and juice and a lot of water and the urge and pain went away but now I am left with a foul odor kind of like rotten egg and every time I pee it leaves the smell in the toilet (that s how strong the smell is) I went to a doctor and they said it was a uti and gave me an antibiotic (doxycyline hyclate 100mg) and after taking them nothing happened I still have the same symptoms. I m really worried what could this be?
I would advise you to get a 'urine culture and sensitivity' done 3 days after stopping your antibiotics and see which pathogen has caused the infection and which antibiotic is sensitive towards it. UTI can be caused by a number of bacteria and every antibiotic is not effective towards every pathogen. Based on the report, you should take a 7 day course of that antibiotic. In addition to it, you must drink plenty of fluids to get rid of the disease and symptoms associated with it.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
