Suggest Treatment For Fractured Elbow Causing Severe Pain
I fell off my work truck Tuesday and went to the hospital. They told me that the x rays were cloudy and could not see anything but will have a specialist look at them. 2 days later i got a call saying that i have a fracture in my elbow. they put a splint on me and refer me to a orthopedic surgeon. since I have had the splint on me my hand is swollen and discolored my wrist is in pain along with my elbow. appointment with a orthopedic surgeon on Monday but I am in a lot of pain what should i do or take for the pain, swelling, and discoloration?
In my opinion, the symptoms of pain, swelling and discoloration of hand are due to the pressure on blood vessels of wrist and hand. I think, this is an emergency, which may cause ischemia or even gangrene of hand, if persists for a long time.
You should immediately see your doctor, may be even primary care physician or even emergency care physician to remove this splint or replace it with a less tight splint. In the mean time, you can definitely take OTC analgesic like Tylenol or Advil etc. but this temporary relief of pain should not delay your consultation with your PCP or emergency care physician.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
