Suggest Treatment For Free Fluid In Uterus And Fallopian Tubes

Hi. A few days ago it was confirmed i had free fluid in my uterus and right fallopian tube. I went to see me consultant who advised all blood cultures and swabs were negative but i needed a laparoscopy however she couldnt do this for 8 weeks. I havent had a period for 12 weeks and hcg reports negative. We were due to start fertility treatment aswell. I have alot of pain and discomfort and we have figured that this fluid has appeared in the last 12 weeks i was scanned 13 weeks ago. Im in so much pain and discomfort should this really be left for another 8 weeks? I dnt think i can bare that. What if it bursts? Can it burst? Im.not sure what to do and some advice would be much appreciated.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Your history is suggestive of a condition called Salpingitis which seems to be secondary to the uterine infection.
Commonest cause is sexual transmission hence both of you needs to be treated simultaneously after finding the cause.
You need to take the fluid from the uterus to be sent for lab to get a proper diagnosis.
Since the problem is of such a long duration tuberculosis should be investigated for.
Regular follow up and complete treatment along can help you to get pregnant.
You will need a long course of treatment and surgery is indicated only if the medical management fails or have complications like blocked tubes or so.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
