Suggest Treatment For Frequent Constipation And Gas

I have been having this problem for awhile now. When I eat something, soon after when I have the urge to go to relieve myself, it will start to pass pretty good, then all at once it will stop just like you would cut off a valve. I immediately start to hear a gurgling sound like water filling back up in a bottle. Then I have such pressure in the middle of my stomach which is pushing down to where it feels like it is trying to come out but something is blocking it. When the gurgling starts it comes back up and spreads across the top of my stomach which sometime bloats me across the top and sometime causes pain or shortness of breath. I feel so stuffed and uncomfortable. I swell with gas and then start to belching unbelievable. I never feel completely flushed or empty. I drink MiraLax and take fiber meds to help out. I even take laxatives to help get some relief, but I still never get a empty filling. I am diabetic and I worry with some numbness from a thyratic nerve damage. I have neuropathy in my thighs and legs and I am scheduled for surgery next month to have discs reinforced in neck to keep me from becoming paralyzed from the neck down. So now, I really don t know what is to do about anything. I don t know which problem needs to be address first. If you can help me, I would greatly appreciate your advice.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having symptoms of frequent constipation and gas which can occur due to many reasons such as irritable bowel syndrome, some medications like antidepressants, eating a lot of dairy products, acidity and lack of fibers in diet. Identification of cause is most important. Need not to worry. You should avoid intake of hot, sharp and spicy food substances. For now drink lot of warm water , do light exercises and brisk walk , do not lay down immediately after having food , avoid fatty and heavy meals. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order colonoscopy or other tests to look for blockages in your colon. You should get barium studies and blood test for hormonal changes. Doctor may prescribe you stool softeners as well.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
