Suggest Treatment For Frequent Cough Despite Medication

Hi , my daughter is 2 yr 1 month old and is suffering from cough since 15-20 days . The cough comes early morning around 3am and after 5 min it soothes. Initially gave tixylin for 5 days 2.5 ml two times days and then changed to montair LC Kids 5ml a day gave for 8 days. But cough didnt reduce. Now doctor prescribed Kidspred sryup (5ml thrice a day ), and two more syrups(one for cold and another one from flum) to be used for 5 days. How long does the cough persists and what is the reason for getting cough only in the nights.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of frequent cough despite medication which could be due to upper respiratory tract infection, allergic bronchitis, chronic pulmonary disease and tuberculosis . Need not to worry. If medicine is not working then i would suggest you to visit pulmonologist once and get chest X-ray done along with other test , because there may be bacterial or viral infection which need proper treatment . Go for blood and sputum test first and get it examined. Start treatment after proper diagnosis. Take steam inhalation as well. You should take cough expectorants. Take proper course of antibiotics. You should take combination of anti allergic and antihistamine medications for immediate relief. Go for pulmonary function tests as well as access exact level of infection. Sip on warm water with one spoon of honey . Avoid cold beverages.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
