Suggest Treatment For Frequent Green Colored Stool In Child

my 4 month child is having green color stool for past 2 days and around 7 to 8 times a day. also we have examined his stool and it was showing pus cell count -18-21 hcg what does it mean? also from yesterday night he had done 8 times stool in 5 hour. doctors given him walamycin 3.5 ml 3 times a day. so what should we do now.

Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the green stool with pus cells do indicate bacterial infection of the gut (which may be from toys like stuff kept in mouth by child). As his pediatrician has already started Valamycin, additional precautions to be taken are:
- Take care that child does not put anything in his mouth
- Extra care of mouth hygiene before and after feeding
- Do not allow anything except breast feeding
- Addition of zinc syrup above antibiotic to support the GI flora recovery
- Lacto bacillus sachets 3 times a day with boiled water

Remain in regular follow up with his pediatrician for further guidelines of care.
