Suggest Treatment For Frequent Urination And Bladder Pain
I am having frequent urination, bladder pain and irritation, nausea, back pain--all the symptoms of a UTI. A urine culture came back negative for a UTI. I was given a prescription for Bactrim the day the culture was done in case there was an infection, but that has not helped. What other problems could be causing these symptoms? I have IBS so wondered if constipation could be a problem with bacteria of some type getting into the urinary tract system but doesn t show up on the culture?
If there is bacteria it should show up on the culture, but then again we may have to repeat the culture to possibly get a more accurate conclusive result.
In this scenario I would recommend an ultrasound KUB (kidney ureter and bladderl, along with an ultrasound of your lower abdomen and pelvis.
Ruling out causes like kidney stones, uterine or vaginal prolapse (I do not know your sex as you failed to mention it), prostate enlargement, etc. There are also many chronic conditions like diabetes that can play a role in such a presentation, along with simpler infections like a fungal one. I would also recommend a consult with a neurologist to check if there could be nerve issue in the region causing the issue.
Best wishes.
