Suggest Treatment For Frequent Urination And High Blood Sugar Levels
I am on medication for hypertension and take Revelol AM 50/5 in the morning, Atorlip-F and Minipress XL 5 in the night. I consult a Nephrologist in Kottayam. My creatinine level at present is 1.4 and once it came down to 1.2 and 1.3 and once rose to 1.9 when I took Eritel CH 40 in the morning and Selomax 50/5/ in the evening. When the creatinine stood at 1.9 my doctor changed the medcine and presribed Selomax 50/5 in the morning Atorlip-F and Minipress EL 5 in the night. For the last 6 months the creatinine level stands at 1.4. There is swelling in my ankles which starts by noon and lasts till night. ln the morning when I get up from the bed there is no swelling and the ankles look normal. On some days I have frequent urination in day time and on some days in night. My blood sugar level is 132 (fasting and 162 (PPBS) during the last week check up. Is my kidneys condition deteriorating? Is there any medical prevention? I request your kind help and valuable advice. By M.N. Ravindran Pillai, Mob 0000

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
High blood sugar itself causes frequent urination/urine infection can also cause same symptom. In such a case, control blood sugar with consultation of a diabetologist. Get urine checked microscopically to exclude infection or start antibiotic as per need under a doctor's guidance. Before that be on strict carbohydrate free diet, take the medication you are already taking regularly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
