Suggest Treatment For Frequent Urination In An Elderly Person

Since Wednesday afternoon, I ve had a sense of urgency to urinate. At the end of which, there s a pain as an involuntary spasm to completely void my bladder, that feels like something is falling out of my genital area. If I wasn t a 63 yr. old female, it would be like menstrual cramping to the 9th degree. I ve been drinking a LOT of water, in an effort to flush out any possible UTI bacteria which results in my going on an hourly basis....sometimes with the accompanying pain, sometimes not. What else, besides drinking more water can you recommend? NOTE: the last UTI I had was over a decade ago, but at time, I was passing what looked like bloody tissue in a dark urine stream. Not so this time, with the extra water, it is fairly clear...if not sometimes frothy. email address: YYYY@YYYY

Unfortunately, it sounds like you could have another urinary tract infection. In postmenopausal women, bacterial infections are common because the lack of estrogen stimulation on the vagina causes changes in pH, bacterial colonization, tissue changes, dryness, etc. I wound recommend getting Azo which is OTC. It will help with the pain relief, but ultimately you need to be worked up for a UTI.
