Suggest Treatment For Genital Rash In A Child

Hello. I wanted to see if you can help me. My son is 9 months old and has a very bad rash around his genitals. It doesnt look like other rashes he has gotten. Is there anything i can get over the counter to help it heal fast? I know its really bothering him. Everytime we change his diper he cries because of the wet cloths. I have stopped using the wipies.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

This can be a diaper rash or candidiasis(thrush). Kindly show to your doctor or send a picture to us if possible, as both needs different treatments. Diaper rash needs just an emollient while thrush needs anti fungal creams. Meanwhile, keep the area clean and dry as far as possible. Avoid frequent wetting.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK
