I am a 60 year old female and suffering from diabtese for the last 15 years. I take medicine before breakfast. It is under control. My eye specialist has told me that I am suffering from glaucoma. The pressur in the eye is 15/15 for the last two months. I am taking an eye drop named Alphagan(P). Doctor says that I have to continue with medicine for ever to avoid further damage to my eyes. What is your advice.I live in India
Treatment for glaucoma is a continuous one which has to for life. It is meant to keep the intraocular pressure under control which keeps the optic nerve from getting further damage.Do continue with the Alphagan(P) eye drops as prescribed.
Hello It seems from the history that you are diagnosed with glaucoma and on treatment with alphagan eye drops. Alphagan is an anti glaucoma drug and you can use it for treatment of glaucoma. Your doctor is right in saying that you need to use the eye drop continuously without stopping it may be forever unless you go for other options like laser or surgery.
Thank you
