Suggest Treatment For Glucose Level Shooting To 164 From 135
My 80yr old husband had diabeties but several yrs ago had it so under control that his docs told him they didn t need to see him because he seemed to everything under control. within the last week he started having akin to diabeties. We got new blood sugar testing equipment and at first seemed to have glucose levels under control (135-140). About 30 minutes ago he got a reading of 164. So we need to get him to the ER now?
Hello. Welcome to HCM. I have read your question and and understand your concerns.
Don't worry nothing serious to take your husband to the ER now. Blood sugar of 164 is quite acceptable and even not in the Diabetic range if you had done it after food.
My advice to you is -
1. Do your FBS, PP2BS AND HBA1c (3 month average sugar report) at present and see what is currently blood sugar levels and what is average levels.
If sugar levels are above normal levels than also your doctor will start medicines gradually. No need to take to emergency room!
So, do all your levels and then show it to your doctor or show it to us. Then you will get further guidance about what to be done. Don't worry. Have a nice day.
