Suggest Treatment For Gonorrhea

Hi I am eleven weeks pregnant and my boyfriend was diagnosed with gonorrhea today, so I went to my closest health centre and the doctor prescribed something called amexcicllin 500mg an antibiotic is that going to help cure my std and not harm my baby?

Hello, Thanks for the query.
Amoxycillin is a safe and effective antibiotic during first trimester of pregnancy. Plus it is effective against the gonococcus if it isn't a resistant strain. But usual recommended dose is 3.5 g in a single dose. If you are taking 500 mg per dose then three times a day for 5 days has to be taken. Just 500 mg is not enough. Thanks.
