Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, i am 29 and I have PCOS. I find myself losing hair gradually since last year. I m 163CM 52Kg, not fat. I have insulin resistant but I manage my blood sugar. I want to run all possible test to find out which reason cause me hair losing. For example , DHT? deficiency of Mg,Zinc or Potassium?
Well, effective treatments for some types of hair loss are available. But some hair loss is permanent. If your hair loss is caused by an underlying disease, treatment for that disease will be necessary.
This may include drugs to reduce inflammation and suppress your immune system, such as prednisone. But also, 2 medications are used for treatment and include minoxidil and Finasteride.
If there is no success with these then hair transplant or restoration surgery can make the most of the hair you have left.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
