Hi Doctor! My name is Fiaz Ahmad. I am facing hair fall problem since 2014. I thought it was due to iron deficiency but my Iron level is good. But still I am facing this problem. Please let me know what is its actual cause and suggest a best remedy. Thanks. Gender : Male Age : 22 years
Common causes of hair fall include androgenic androgenic alopecia, fungal infection, nutritional deficiency, alopecia areata (auto – immune), and cancer chemo/radiotherapy. Treatment depends upon the cause, but the most common cause in young male is androgenic alopecia. Minoxidil promotes hair growth in some but you need to apply it for long time to see effect. Other mentioned causes are treatable but need correct diagnosis and treatment by specialist. Advice 1. Consult a dermatologist of your area so that he/she can rule out other causes 2. You can use minoxidil gel 5% (Tugain gel) – 1 mL twice daily for 4 months 3. High protein and vitamin rich diet such as eggs, meat, vegetables, cheese etc. 4. Do not take much tension as anxiety/depression aggravates hair loss 5. You can take Revital capsule once daily temporarily to correct any nutritional deficiency 6. Hair transplantation/hair wig is also an option for you Thanks
