General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If the UTI is severe enough that it is associated with septicemia (infection involving the blood stream), then it can cause a temporary change in brain function. This is delirium. Delirium can cause hallucinations. Her mental function should return to normal when she recovers.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
