Suggest Treatment For Hallucinations And Dry Mouth
My sister, 57, has a history of uti s. Doesn t experience typical symptoms and has been in ER for one diagnosis of uti . Last time she couldn t take in water and she was extremely dehydrated. They diagnosed her with a severe UTI. Last night and continuing today she has been having hallucinations. She has dry mouth now also. YYYY@YYYY
If the UTI is severe enough that it is associated with septicemia (infection involving the blood stream), then it can cause a temporary change in brain function. This is delirium. Delirium can cause hallucinations. Her mental function should return to normal when she recovers.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
