Suggest Treatment For Halos In Left Eye

I just had something funny happen to my vision. I was getting haloing (very noticeable when looking at street lights) in my left eye. It lasted about 5 minutes and is ok right now. Should I be concerned tonight or wait until the morning to call my doctor?

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Halos can be a normal response to bright lights sometimes. Halos can be caused by wearing corrective lenses (contact lenses) or eyeglasses. The following are few causes of halos:
1) Cataract
2) Cataract surgery as a side effect of new lens
3) Fuch's dystrophy
4) Glaucoma
5) Keratoconus
6) Photo-keratitis
7) Lasik surgery
8) Ocular migraine

Not to apprehend you, the list may be long but most probably you have halos because of cataract as it is only in one eye. You need to see an ophthalmologist for detailed eye examination and to specify the diagnosis and for appropriate treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
