Suggest Treatment For Hand-foot And Mouth Disease
I am looking for information on hand-foot and mouth disease. What is the viruses that causes this? Can immunity be developed to resist this? How infectious is a person that has this. What is the treatment? How long is a person infectious once leasions appear?

HFMD is caused by enterovirus. Immunity will develop against the virus, but this does not guarantee protection from future episodes. The infected person is very infectious, Transmission occurs through coughing, sneezing, changing infected child's diaper etc. The infected person is contagious during first week after the onset of fever. The infection will subside on its own without treatment in 10 days. You can give the child ice pops to help with pain. Use Tylenol for pain and fever.
