I had surgery in January to remove an abscess after a surgery in January to remove a titanium staple from a previous surgery that was lodged into a joint. I still have a hard scab on my foot. is there anything that I can do other than apply neosporine?

Hello, this is Dr. Gidoiu

Neosporine is an antibiotic, which prevents additional infections, and also enhances healing of wounds.

Does the hard scab hurt? Or is it just an uncomfortable hard skin?
You can try to soften the skin by having the foot immersed in warm water. Also by applying creams which increase blood flow to the area, such as Salvamin, or HerbaMedicus Pferdebalsam cream if available to you.

Also try to regularly massage the hard scab area, this will also increase blood flow and heal it properly, and soften it.
