Hello. No I am not well. And I do not have Osteoporosis (my most recent bone density test was in 2014 and I had a baseline one 5 years prior). What I do have is what seems to be out-of-control Hashimoto s disease. Besides my tooth problem I get mouth sores after eating just about anything (not real sores but they feel like sores and then go away after a few hours) and I do not have Pernicious Anemia. Since the shutdown of the thyroid gland affects every cell in ones body I thought that might be it. I am seeing my regular doctor next week to follow-up on a related issue so I will ask him as well (but he is an Internal Medicine doctor). I do thank you for your answer, though. It was informative/educational to learn that osteoporosis can cause dental problems. Thank you again and I appreciated your follow-up. Most sincerely, Jane Maya
Hello and thank you for asking on HCM! i have carefully gone through your situation and i can understand your query. You mentioned that you are diagnosed with Hashimoto thyroiditis and it is not controlled, anyway the problems with your mouth could not be related to it. If you have been treated with antibiotics lately (for your teeth problems) propably an oral candida is developed. Rarely, the antibodies that cause Hashimoto thyroiditis can affect also the salivary glands and as a result they do not secrete enough saliva, causing different problems with the mouth. You may suggest to your doctor to examine for these problems. Meanwhile you should correct the thyroid hormonal level. Hope the information will help. Kind regards, Dr.M.Guni
