Hi, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto s a few years ago and only recently started treatment. I experience many symptoms prior to treatment such as weakness in legs, nausea, anxiety and extreme fatigue to name a few. I have been taking levothyroxin for about 11 days now and wanted to know if it is normal for symptoms to worsen before they get better? I find I am much more tired and my anxiety has increased.
Hi, dear I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You have hashimotos thyroiditis and it leads to hypothyroidism. Now you are taking levothyroxine.
Complete effect of levothyroxine take place after 6 weeks. So don't worry. Just be relaxed. Continue your drug and repeat your T3, T4 and TSH level after 6 weeks. If your symptoms not improve even after that then consult your doctor and plan accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
