Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. Almost 14 years have passed since his
head injury. It is sufficient time to recover from head injury but areas of permanent head injury do not heal. It is those areas which are causing difficulty in walking/standing.
From your question, it is not clear what type of head injury he had? was he operated? was he given any kind of physiotherapy? You can provide details by asking another question.
Meanwhile, I am giving you few tips to follow
: Active and passive physiotherapy - You can stretch his
limbs and joints to avoid contracture and maintain mobility. Ask him to do exercise of all joints. You can take help of physiotherapist.
:
Occupational therapy - You have to consult occupational therapist for it. He / she will give therapy to make him do some work and routine activities
: Family support - It is very important part of
rehabilitation. You and your family have to support him and motivate him to do exercise/routine activities. Support his decisions.
:
Stem cell therapy - It is a new modality of treatment. In this, few cells (tissue part) are injected which reach to brain and generate damaged area tissue. This helps in recovering function. It is available at few centres and results are okay only, but some relief can occur. You can check its availability on internet.
Hope it will help you. Thanks. Take care.
