Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m 23 and have head lice. I ve checked my daughter and partners hair but they don t have them, I ve not been around other people/children. I ve washed by bedding more times than I can count, used over the counter lotion but nothing seems to clear them. What else can I do?
Head lice can be removed by any shampoo containing permethrin lotion, 1%. It effectively kills lice. You can also remove it with the help of a fine toothed comb, start combing as close the scalp as possible & then wipe it in a piece of white cloth or white paper. You will have to do it regularly for a couple of days, till you are comfortable. Wet combing and application of natural oils (tea tree oil) also kills lice.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
